Lead Game Designer
Piktiv continues to grow within game development and we are excited to expand our team of game consultants to also include an experienced Lead Game Designer. You will bring in-depth design skills and industry experience from a Design perspective to Piktiv, which will enable us to better move beyond the highly technical game projects that Piktiv has done so far.
What you’ll do
You’ll be a part of a team of consultants at Piktiv who’ll work together with our client to bring a new game to life! As a Lead Designer your primary job will be to lead the development of the game’s design together with the rest of the development team. You’ll work from the Piktiv offices in a team with other Piktiv colleagues who work for the same client.
Our client is developing an ambitious RPG game that will work on the blockchain. They’re passionate about creating an immersive player experience that is enhanced by blockchain technology, rather than being another tech gimmick. Our client is a firm believer in the technology, and despite current market fluctuations they are plowing ahead with several titles.
The game is in the very early stages of development and there’s ample opportunity to shape the design of the game.
Responsibilities:
- Create, own and adapt the game vision in alignment with the business and technical requirements of the project
- Be an evangelist for the game’s vision within the team, inspire and focus the team’s efforts towards accomplishing this vision
- Translate overarching ideas into game concepts that fit within blockchain gaming space
- Design and tune systems to work well within the blockchain gaming space
- Lead game design discussions with the team and involve them in design decisions wherever possible
- Be able to lead a small team of designers with a focus on motivation, inclusivity, professional development, and a high agility to meet deadlines
- Be able to review game designs, game builds and provide regular constructive feedback where needed
- Prototype and tune design ideas in Unity together with the development team
- Implement the feedback from user research and QA.
- Communicate possible problems and risks to ensure that production deadlines are met
Who you are
You’re intrigued by the possibilities that blockchain gaming presents and are eager to take a crack at making not just another blockchain game but a great game on its own merits.
You’ve worked as a Lead Designer before and know what it means to own the process of designing a game together with other designers. You are enthusiastic about sharing a game’s vision with others and thrive in the creative environment of game design.
You are excited by the idea of sharing your expertise with Piktiv and helping us build fantastic games for great clients as we continue to expand our Game Development Services.
Essential:
- A couple of years of experience, enough to be confident
- Interest to learn and work with technologies such as blockchain
- Experience working with Unity
- Excellent communication skills
- A great collaborator in multi-disciplinary teams
- Able to articulate initial ideas into concrete game features.
- Has an understanding of game flow, engagement, pacing and player retention
Bonus:
- Experience working with blockchain games
- Experience with complex in-game economies
- Experience with UI & UX design
- An undergraduate degree in Game Design, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or equivalent
